Protecting your company’s brands and trademarks for the products and services it offers is important, especially in Indonesia, where trademark rights are granted on a first-to-file basis.
Trademarks may be registered directly in the name of Indonesian citizens or Indonesian-registered companies, such as an Indonesian PMA Company.
Foreign individuals and foreign companies can also hold Indonesian trademark registrations, but must file through a locally registered intellectual property consultant under a power of attorney, or designate Indonesia in an international application under the Madrid Protocol.

Trademarks can include words, pictures, product and service names, and slogans. A registered mark is protected for 10 years from the filing date, and is renewable.
